The past few years have seen a marked increase in the adoption of algorithmic decision-making by local and national governments, and throughout the wider public sector. Most recently, algorithms have been put to use in the education, welfare, policing, and justice spaces, garnering a significant level of interest from citizens. With growing concerns over their potential bias and inaccuracy, as well as surrounding the transparency of decision-making processes, this panel explores the risks and opportunities associated with the uptake of algorithmic government.
