The first wave of the pandemic made it tremendously difficult to predict the demand on health and care services. In response, NHS England and NHS Improvement developed the COVID-19 Early Warning System — a first-of-its-kind toolkit that forecasts vital metrics. Now, it helps to prioritise care for patients on a daily basis. We look at how such a large and complex organisation like the NHS embraced AI so quickly and successfully, and the main reasons why AI adoption can fail.

Laura Stevenson, Senior Manager of Faculty’s Health & Life Sciences team and Harison Carter, National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow at NHS England will discuss – How the NHS is using AI to predict demand for services.
