Background
Given the law firm’s scale, breadth and expertise across multiple disciplines, one of their key competitive advantages is their proprietary knowledge stores. However, having to rely on legacy search tools meant that lawyers had to spend too much valuable time looking for the case information they needed. The firm selected Faculty to see how AI-powered tools could help speed up this discovery process.
Solution
We developed a legal knowledge ‘chatbot’ to find relevant documents from the law firm's enormous knowledge collection. We designed the tool to answer research questions, conversationally interact with users for deep dive interrogations, and develop first draft communications from the existing knowledge base.
Impact
This tool helps lawyers streamline their research process, resulting in less time spent on case preparation and ultimately reducing billable hours for clients. It also enables the team to focus on higher-value tasks, while enhancing the quality of research through broader and easier access to their data repository.
