
Tom Drew OBE
Head of National Security
Tom Drew is Faculty’s Customer Director for National Security and Counter-Terrorism. He manages a portfolio of work centred on the development and deployment of AI to support the delivery of national security strategic effect.
Before joining Faculty, Tom worked in Homeland Security Group (HSG) in the Home Office, where he built a team responsible for analysing online terrorist and extremist communications and behaviours. During his time at HSG, Tom’s work was critical in shaping the Government’s understanding of violent extremist organisations and its response to acts of terrorism in the UK and abroad. His work has resulted in the removal of thousands of pieces of harmful and illegal material from the internet.
Tom was awarded an OBE in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his work for national security.
