With 500+ fellows trained, and placed into some of the world's most advanced organisations, including Meta, Nike and Google Deepmind, the Fellowship is now helping shape the next generation of Australian AI talent.
About Fellowship
With Faculty’s fellowship program, your future in AI is supercharged in a matter of weeks. The program gives the most promising STEM talent the skills and hands-on experience needed to grow your careers, and transition from academia into AI.
Across short-term, fully funded placements in Australia, you will receive intensive training in both technical and commercial skills, and work on AI projects with real impact.

About Fellowship Program
The Data Scientist Fellowship Programme
The fellowship equips individuals with the practical skills and real-world experience needed to transition from academia into applied data science and AI. During this eight-week programme, fellows first begin with two weeks of intensive, expert-led training, building capability in modern data science tools, techniques, and best practices. They then spend six weeks embedded in a live client project, applying their skills to real business challenges and developing models and algorithms that deliver tangible impact.

The Faculty Fellowship begins with a two-week intensive course. Spearheaded by industry experts, you’ll have access to our cutting-edge data science tools and methods. You’ll then apply them in practice, in a six-week placement with one of our host companies.

With dedicated training sessions in data science, engineering and ‘soft’ business skills, we make sure that you hit the ground running in your next role.
You’ll be mentored by the best minds in AI, who deploy cutting-edge AI to solve some of the world’s most important problems - from supporting governments on counter-terrorism to helping healthcare organisations improve and save lives.
In just two months, you’ll have delivered a data science project, whether for an established firm or a sparky start-up – and have been paid for it.
At the end of the placement, you’ll get the chance to present what you’ve achieved to industry experts at one of the biggest events in the Faculty’s calendar: Demo Day.

The Process
We don’t have rigid entry requirements, but we do look for exceptional potential. The ideal fellow has strong communication skills, some programming experience, a solid grasp of statistical learning theory, and a high level of mathematical competence.

After the completion of the initial application review, qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a coding test.
Those that have passed the coding test will be invited to an interview with someone from our team, which is the final stage of the process before we offer places on the fellowship.

Get answers to frequently asked questions about the Fellowship
The Fellowship is primarily in-person, so if you’re unable to commute to the programme location each day, you’ll need to relocate for the duration of the 8 weeks. While we can’t provide accommodation, many fellows have successfully relocated to take part in the programme. Our inaugural Australian cohort will take place in Western Australia in January 2027, with future cohorts planned for Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
